Good Breakfast. Bathroom door and toilet bowl were dirty. Clump of hair and dirt in the corner of bathroom. One mattress was comfortable and one was not. The desk clerks were nice. I loved the wallpaper and carpet design.
This was a pretty disappointing experience for the whopping $240 we paid. I understand that it's peak season in Duluth, but when we arrived we noticed that our room - and the entire floor - smelled like a locker room (there was a hockey team staying on our floor). The windows are bolted shut so there was no way to air the room out, but we went out to dinner hoping the smell would dissipate. It didn't. In fact, it actually seemed to have gotten worse when we got back. We spoke with the woman at the front desk (Anne) who was incredibly friendly, understanding and accommodating, but the hotel was full so there was no chance of being moved. I recommended we either receive a discount or have our money refunded and find accommodations elsewhere. She offered to see what she could do and I went to see if I could find availability elsewhere. I found another hotel for $100 less, an hour south, and called to see where things stood. The manager had told Anne to discount us $25. I said that was appreciated, but if they weren't willing to discount more, we'd really rather go to the other hotel. Anne offered to talk to her manager and call me back. When she called me back, she let me know the manager had said we'd lose the entire cost of our room if we moved, because we booked online through a third party... Pretty wretched customer service, if you ask me (I happen to know for a fact that it's at the hotel's discretion to refund our money as I travel for business constantly and have been in similar situations before - most 3rd parties are happy to accommodate if the hotel is willing to go along). I do want to emphasize that this was not Anne's fault. She did all she could to accommodate, but, from what I could surmise, the manager felt like they had us over a barrel. It's peak season, and every hotel is full, so it feels like the manager didn't really give a $*&%. My advice? Book early, and choose a nicer hotel. And to the manager who felt it was more important to get extra money out of me than ensure I was left with a decent experience, you have convinced me to never stay at a Wyndham property again (and I spent $20,000 on hotels for business travel last year). You might want to be a little more flexible next time. Corporate will also be receiving a communication from me.
We paid for our room online, but had issues upon arrival. The guy at the front desk acted like it was an inconvenience for us to be there and told us we needed a second card to use for the deposit and we couldn't use the same one that we already paid with. The room was fairly clean except for a few details. For example, the conditioner was already used and practically empty and there were a few ants in the bathtub. Stay away from the breakfast. The milk must not be stored properly because it was rotten and curdled even though it was still days away from expiration.
Clean, easy to get to. Highly recommend
Fine, forholdsvis nye værelser i rigtig fin stand :)
